So yeah,

It's been 3 years. Basically.
Since I've sincerely bothered to be on dA in any shape or form.... let alone bothering to submit anything.

I want to start by saying I really don't plan on becoming an active member again yet on dA.
There are several reasons for this....

The first is that I want to be a professional artist. What does that mean?
Well for the most part it means standing on my own two feet and putting myself out there on my own terms.

deviantART is a community where artists can meet and gather, communicate and share.
Yet is is severely gimped and rather exploitative... especially of artists. It's a good launch point for any artist though, and it is certainly a great place to find inspiration and meet lots of people and make new friends, like any other online community.

Still that is all it is, and what it is best used for.

In the long run though deviantART has nothing to offer me other then free advertising and promotion (although I may subscribe for additional options). I won't ever submit any work that I really value or cherish. Nor any character or concept. This is simply because when you throw something out onto the internet it becomes nothing but food for the wolves.

Despite this I'm not condemning the internet, I'm just being cautious and careful about what choices I make. Who I am giving rights to my art and so forth. What I may do though in the future is submit junk, or specifically tailored pieces of work for dA that I don't care to part with. Overall my participation coming down to communicating with artists and even collaborating. Something I'd sincerely love to do in the future with artists out there.

In either case consider this journal a place holder for good things to possibly come. Although don't hold your breath. Cause it could be years... it could be months then again.
